Linzi Kaniszewski, Ph.D.
Patent Strategy Specialist
Linzi specializes in providing patent strategy and plant science services. As the organic market continues to grow and more industries are turning to plant-based materials, understanding the patent landscape for such research is vital.
Her postdoctoral research at Michigan State University focused on the metabolism of secondary metabolites found in plants in response to various pathogens. After her postdoctoral research, she worked with MSU Technologies where she assisted in the screening, marketing and commercialization of intellectual property assets in accordance with MSU policies. She also provided assistance in the administration of ongoing and new marketing projects and processes.
Linzi earned her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Michigan State University. She has worked with a broad range of plant species in addition to plant pathogen species. Her research on plant metabolites was patented as U.S. Patent No. 10,201,165.
Prior to her Ph.D., Linzi received an undergraduate degree in Biology from Ferris State University where she focused her studies on human biology and environmental biology.
